Alpha Chi Omega has joined the fight against domestic violence by adopting victims of domestic violence as their national altruistic project. Both collegiate and alumnae provide service to their community, to local shelters, and other organizations that assist victims of domestic violence. Alpha Chi Omega dedicates their time and energy to help women, children, and organizations in need.
The Epsilon Kappa chapter at Cal State Fullerton holds two annual fundraisers to raise money for victims of domestic violence. Throughout the year members visit shelters to spend time with the women and children, and collect clothing, toiletries, and toys for them throughout the year.
In the fall semester, Epsilon Kappa hosts a beauty pageant-like event in which the money raised from ticket sales are donated.
Fraternity members and members from other organizations on campus participate in the show. The men compete in several categories including formal wear, talent, swimsuit, and interview. Raffle tickets and a silent auction are also offered to allow audience members to walk away with great prizes. This event is a lot of fun because it is not only entertaining, but it supports an important cause.
In the spring semester, Epsilon Kappa hosts a golf tournament. Men and women of all ages are encouraged to participate to raise awareness and funds for victims of domestic violence.
Participants in the tournament have the opportunity to not only play a great game of golf, but participate in games, a silent auction, and dinner with their family and sorority members. Trophies are awarded to the winning teams and participation prizes distributed, making this day a memorable experience.
Formal recruitment is held once a year in the fall, usually during the month of September. Alpha Chi Omega participates in Panhellenic recruitment at Cal State Fullerton. Women interested in joining a sorority at Cal State Fullerton can seek information and register at http://csufpanhellenic.com/.
